When your home’s entrance opens directly onto a public footpath, building a permanent ramp can be impossible. This was the case for one of our customers in the south of England. Without a safe way to navigate the steep steps outside his mobile home, he found himself isolated—missing important hospital visits and losing independence.
The solution? A portable step lift for mobile homes—Motorstep.
Adapting the Entrance to Fit a Portable Step Lift for Mobile Homes
The three steps leading from the customer’s mobile home opened directly onto a public walkway. This meant:
• Ramps couldn’t be installed without violating public space regulations
• Independence was lost, with the user unable to attend doctor’s appointments or social events
• No permanent changes could be made that obstructed pedestrian access
How a Simple Step Modification Made Space for a Lift
Working with a local builder, the three smaller steps were converted into a single, larger step—creating a solid landing for the Motorstep. This minor adjustment allowed for:
• A safe and stable platform
• Minimal construction
• No planning permission needed
